For Lord Humungous, re Vegas:
The Bellagio does an amazing Christmas display in the main concourse. That'll be worth checking out.
Also, the weather is pretty erratic at that time of year. I went for the Half Marathon in early December a few years ago. It was very windy and quite chilly at night, but not bad in the daytime. |

CA on JV,
"Virtanen's four closest statistical and stature based comparable players through pGPS are Shane Doan, Justin Williams, David Legwand and Pavol Demitra. Based on those comparable players, it's not unreasonable to expect some level of offensive improvement going into next season."

Steaming, this is for you...or anyone else who digs Warren Haynes doing Pink Floyd covers...

Yep…outstanding. I have the 'Dark Side of the Mule' LP and had the good fortune to see Haynes live with Gov't Mule back in 2004 in Calgary. The guy is freakin' great. |

I liked your question on the last blog about which Flame player will exceed expectations
It should have been multiple choice and C could be none of the above |

"Dark Side of the Mule" is awesome!! Saw Gov't Mule every time they played the Commodore. Friend of mine was the presenter so I had the opportunity to meet them. A couple of fantastic double bills both doing 2 nights at the Commodore. Gov't Mule & Ratdog and Gov't Mule & Donovan Frankenreiter!! |

Dear Carol,
Thank you for the Lou update, I still expect to one day him in in the Ring of Honour only because onle cannot retire #1.
The other day I was wondering aloud that if and when the day comes that Lou needs to retire due to injury. Why would they the Panthers not put him up on Long Term Injury Reserve and trade his contract back to Vancouver for a mid to late round pick.
1. They get a free pick for a player who will not play again
2. We regain the 800,000 and lose nothing in present cap space due to his Long Term Injury
3. Lou does not even have to move here but stay in Florida and retire nicely.
Sounds like a win/win/win.
The only negative, and I am not sure this even is a negative is that Lou's contract on Long Term Disability may eat up one position at our 50 contract limit but I am not sure those on Long Term even count.
So what say you! |

I think they have rules against putting people on injured reserves that are not actually injured. If they don't yet, doing that would mean they would make a rule to prevent it from happening shortly after

While I will agree that Lu was the best goalie to wear a Canuck jersey I don't see him in the ring of honour. He fought hard for this team game after game but ultimately his heart was always in Florida. I think his time there trumps ours.
Some friendly advise... let it go. |

He, he would be injured.... I mean, eventually they all all. Clarkson, Pronger for example. Who is to say what constitutes a long term injury for a 38 year old goalie?
